Digital SLR's: Going Manual
Free your creativity from the clutches of automatic pre-programming.
Here we'll learn the basics needed to get away from reliance on automatic modes and into manual control. This seminar will explain the all-important elements of Shutter Speed and Aperture while demonstrating how to use them to create the picture you really want. Skills learned here will enable participants to capture everything from high-speed action to night time long exposures. Also covered: ISO/ASA levels, the Histogram, On-camera Flash, Lenses and more.
Requirements: dSLR camera or advanced point-and-shoot with full Manual setting. Participants should bring their camera to the seminar.
Skill level: Novice photographers, amateurs and anyone who still has questions about what aperture really is/does (You're not alone. I promise to answer the question once and for all!).

Composition: Theory and Style
Understanding the basic "rule of thirds" theory is only the first step. In this seminar we'll discuss composition theory, how to compose images for different subject matter and lighting conditions as well as how to achieve photographs that are dynamic and captivating.
Requirements: No camera necessary to attend. Experience with an SLR, dSLR, or advanced point-and-shoot camera is recommended.
Skill Level: One-seminar-fits-all.

Portraiture 101
This seminar will cover critical elements of good portraiture from planning to execution. We'll discuss location, composition, lenses, camera settings and (of course) lighting, lighting, lighting.
Requirements: dSLR/SLR camera
Skill Level: Advanced amateur. Should have general understanding of camera settings/features/terminology.
Date/Location:
No winter session. Will be held again in late spring or early summer.
Length: 3 + 1 hours

Digital Post-Processing for Print & Web
Taking a digital photograph from file to print can be a daunting task, but also a rewarding one when done with care, so within this seminar we'll work to demystify the process.
Topics include: Brightness & Contrast adjustments, Colour correction, Basic Black & White Conversion, Sharpening, Noise Removal, Cropping, Image Sizing, DPI/resolution, Colour Profiles, File formats.
Skills learned will apply to most editing software.
Demonstrations will be done in Adobe Photoshop CS4.
Skill Level: Content will be adjusted based on the skill level of participants. Should have prior experience with photo-editing software. Laptop not required. Participants are encouraged to take notes.
