//Grim reaper tribute on a classic rock mural at Rogers Rd & Keele.
The Time Zone bar & grill on Rogers Road has been there as long as I can remember. We'd pass by it on a weekly basis as kids and my brother and I would marvel at the larger-than-life classic rock mural painted on the side of the building. The artwork pays tribute to Hendrix, the Beatles, Zappa, KISS, The Rolling Stones, Van Halen, Bob Marley and more.
The last time I was by there a few weeks ago with Steph T, we saw that the bar was closed down for good. Looking at their website now, I see that Jerry Vasilakos, the owner, chef and bartend, is retiring and selling the biz. Driving by, I looked back and saw scaffolding out back, giving me reason to believe that the mural was going to meet the reaper any day. As you can probably imagine, we pulled right over and with a couple of old 35mm cameras in tow that evening, managed to snap some last shots of it before the colour fades to white.
