• Wonderfully simple. I love mostly macro and do a fair bit, wanted to do lots more streets, attempted last week but felt really strange, how do people react to you going around with camera snapping away at them or things around them? Do you small talk them into comfort or just snap away? Ta.

• Mike - I guess it dependson where you live. Toronto is a huge city that houses a huge photography community, not to mention a lot of tourists, so people are pretty desensitized. That said, I don't really notice people looking at me with my camera any more as i've had it attached to me for years now. I usually mind my own business. I dont' generally shoot photos of people solo, as i wouldn't want to ask and disrupt what's going on. When there are people in my images, they are usually part of a larger scene.

• Tanja. I've been in heart of Sydney all my life, I would be fabricating the truth to tell you the city does not spread its arms to tourists, backpackers, honeymooners, etc, but desensitised is definitively the wrong choice of word, self awareness levels shots through the roof. on a week to week basis I would see no more than a dozen people with cameras (inclusive of point'n'shoots). Suppose the only way to ease myself is just to start shooting. Thanks :)

• Sydney.. wonderful. You have lots of material then. Just get out there... maybe you'll end up finding you really love shooting fire hydrants instead as they never give you dirty looks... there must be something you'll love to shoot and be comfortable shooting. Don't go out with a set plan... just be open. ;)
